JOB DESCRIPTION
Working closely with the Chief Accounting Officer leadership team, you will act as a lead in driving process improvement including performing quality reviews, providing day to day oversight of key accounting functions, overseeing the development of procedural documentation and supporting ad hoc accounting projects. You will be based in the Corporate Accounting Department but will have support responsibilities in External Reporting, Accounting Policy and Internal Controls on an ongoing basis and to assist in special projects relating to application and implementation of accounting standards and control procedures.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Global process ownership of Pension and Stock Based Compensation
- Governance over accounting for certain Company-operated joint ventures
- Statement of Cash flows and MD&A preparation
- Impairment testing
- Ensure validity of financial records through identifying, investigating and resolving variances
- Collaborate and communicate effectively with various departments throughout the organization
- Willing to take on ad hoc accounting projects and general support
- Be innovative, analytical, strategic, organized, and demonstrate great communication skills as well as ability to work and collaborate cross functionally
QUALIFICATIONS
- US GAAP and IFRS technical accounting knowledge with particular strength in such areas as mentioned above
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate the principles and meaning of complex accounting literature to a broader audience
- Bachelor or advanced degree in accounting with a minimum of 7 to 10 years of relevant experience
- CPA, auditing experience and Big 4 or other public accounting large company engagement experience required
- Must possess skill in and enthusiasm for research
- Requires the ability to influence senior management on important and complex issues
- Must be able to provide accounting support and offer problem solving related to financial accounting
- Overtime is required during peak periods throughout the year
